Plug the VPP Controller into your home router with an ethernet cable.

Add it in the Volton Home app

Open the Volton Home app and add the controller to your home. As easy as that. The app gives you an overview of your earnings and production.

Works with solar parks and batteries

The controller connects your solar park or battery to Volton's virtual power plant, so it can earn from the Baltic balancing markets.

Participates in mFRR and aFRR

Your asset's flexibility is offered on both the mFRR and aFRR frequency markets to earn as much as possible. Payouts are made monthly.

Which assets does the VPP Controller work with?

It works with solar parks and batteries. The controller connects your asset to Volton's virtual power plant, which participates in the Baltic mFRR and aFRR balancing markets.

The VPP Controller connects to inverter brands including:

If you have an inverter from another brand or want to be sure about compatibility, write to us.

How do I install it?

Connect the controller to your home router with an ethernet cable and add it in the Volton Home app. That's it — no extra configuration needed.

How do I earn money with it?

Volton's virtual power plant offers your asset's flexibility on the mFRR and aFRR frequency markets. When your asset is activated or reserved, you earn — the Volton Home app shows your earnings in real time. Earnings are paid out monthly.

Are there any monthly fees?

No. You pay for the controller once and there is no monthly fee.

Do I lose control of my inverter?

No — you keep full control and can remove the inverter from the frequency market at any time. The app also lets you adjust all kinds of settings, such as battery charge-level percentages.

Does this mean I can no longer use my own production?

You still can. If the inverter has a meter, we only pause selling to the grid — your own consumption is still covered from the battery or solar panels. You can also keep using your battery yourself, for example to charge your EV.
